We have so much going on at the Bailey Museum all the time, and there is always a need for more helping hands! Whether you have an interest in gardening, kids, carpentry, history, or simply greeting people when they come in the door -- or something else that we haven't thought of yet -- your time and interest are valuable to us.
To get involved in any of these opportunities, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (269) 637-3251
Docents – If you’d like a chance to spend some time in the museum, learn more about Bailey’s life and work, and be a friendly face to greet and orient visitors to the Bailey Museum, then you may be the right person to be a docent. Sign up for one three-hour shift, for one shift a month, once a week, or whenever you are able. Typical shifts are either 10:00-1:00 or 1:00-4:00 on days that the museum is open (Wednesday-Saturday in the summer), but we are happy to accommodate your schedule. A sign-up list is located at the museum, or you can also inquire by calling 269-637-3251.
“Budding Naturalists” Helpers – Just as important as our volunteer leaders are our volunteer helpers. Usually, each Budding Naturalists Leader wants at least one extra set of hands to help take kids to the bathroom, put on a band-aid, and generally keep activities running smoothly. If you like working with kids but would rather not be in charge of teaching, we can use your help!
Carpentry Help – We can occasionally use the help of carpenters and other handy folks to build pedestals and other display elements for exhibits, create shelving, and help with minor repairs around the house and grounds. If you have carpentry experience that you could lend us, especially if you have experience with historical carpentry, please let us know! We can probably use you.
Internships – The Bailey Museum offers several different internship opportunities in the areas of education, horticulture, outreach/marketing, and museum technician. More information on our internship program may be found at our internships page.
